Matthew Darcy, cousin of Mr Darcy of Pemberley finds himself fighting alongside General  Andrew Jackson and toe to toe with his cousin British Major James Fitzwilliam in this exhilarating tale of the Battle of 1812. A battle for New Orleans.

As readers find out, New Orleans is not the only thing at stake in this Persuasion-esque novel. A forbidden love in the form of Cajun-Creole Anne-Marie Dansereau grips at the heart of readers. Can Matthew save New Orleans and win the woman he loves?

While reading this novel, I kept coming back to the passage where Matthew Darcy sees Anne-Marie for the first time. He walks down the street, a street which looks very different than those he is used to and looks up. Standing on a balcony overlooking the street is Anne-Marie. Their eyes meet and as the reader, you know instantly that there is a strong connection between these two very different people. I began thinking about those differences and not only the differences of the people themselves but in the culture that surrounds them. I felt that the only way to create a soap to honor the people in this book would be to create a soap honoring the very different culture of New Orleans itself.

My Mardi Gras Bar Soap, bright with the festive colors of New Orleans, Purple, gold and green, smells of the sweet magnolia flowers that grow in abundance. Its creamy texture has a regal quality to it, which begs to be touched.
